Testing for Generational Difference Impacts on Employee New Job Seeking Intent in Response to COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter Movement

Using a sample of 122 employed U.S. survey respondents, this study investigated if there were generational difference impacts on employees seeking jobs in response to COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Four generations sampled – Generation Z (Gen Z), Y (Millennials), X X), Baby Boomer (Boomers). Results showed that generation had significant effect search for new BLM after controlling demographics, i.e., gender, race, education level organization variables, annual salary, employee experience experience. Further analysis Gen more likely actively seek employment movement than Boomers, whereas Millennials due COVID-19. These results suggest insights into role societal crises shaping workplace behavior across generations.
